The Honey Drop
"I love you, Lord, my strength. The Lord is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer; my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold...As for God, his way is perfect: the Lord’s word is flawless; he shields all who take refuge in him. For who is God besides the Lord? And who is the Rock except our God? It is God who arms me with strength and keeps my way secure. He makes my feet like the feet of a deer; he causes me to stand on the heights." |

The Picture
Ibex are small deer-like animals able to survive desert conditions and predators because they have mastered climbing unimaginable heights. According to the Tisch Family Zoological Gardens in Jerusalem, the Ibex have been present in the desert region of southern Israel since Biblical times. This means that King David could have easily been awed and inspired by these incredible desert images when he was writing Psalms while fleeing from King Saul. While watching the YouTube clip, consider the depth in the Biblical images of God being "our Rock" and giving us "feet like a deer". As Habakkuk reminds us, sometimes God will smooth the paths of our lives, but sometimes He trains our feet to tread the heights...
